Phobias are a strange thing and quite irrational in most cases. . I don't have any real strong phobias myself I use to be a bit skittish round bumblebees but I've over come that now and im not keen on open heights but i can manage if i have to ...that's about it really.

A true phobia is, by it's nature, "weird" or "odd". A phobia is an irrational fear of an everyday object or situation..... Irrational fear...

You might think, as I do, that its strange to be afraid of spiders....but if you live in Australia, for instance, that is a very rational fear !

I'm acrophobic - afraid of heights - but I make sense of it by thinking of it more as "afraid of falling". When you look at it that way, it's not so irrational.

Maybe I should have said 'uncommon' phobias

I have a friend who lives in Queensland, she's more afraid of the ants than the spiders...she often comes across a redback in her garden but doesn't let them bother her. I couldn't live over that's for sure. I was fine with spiders as a child...my fear of them has only really developed over the last 10 or so years
